Since its very invention, the piano has served as the closest, most faithful, and most reliable “partner” of the great classical and romantic composers—a role that has essentially remained unchanged to this day. Virtuoso pianist Stefanos Thomopoulos, long based in France and the artistically restless city of Paris, and himself a profound connoisseur of contemporary musical trends, guides the audience through the piano music of today.
The program features groundbreaking works: some inspired by contemporary visual arts, others exploring new alliances with the electronic sound universe, some flirting in a minimalist way with avant-garde movements, and still others proudly rooted in folk tradition. What unites them all is a dazzling writing style that reveals unprecedented dimensions of pianistic possibilities and a spirit of exploration into novel soundscapes directly linked to the experiences of our times.
